Earlier this week I posted the first part of my agonising choice of class for the upcoming release of Project1999 Green server. Welcome to Part 2, where I do actually reach a decision. Let’s get right back into it, with the third class of the four I’m considering. Druid The druid is an old favourite […]
I am currently struggling to decide which class I will roll for my foray back into the timeline-accurate classic fun of Project1999 Green. It’s not a bad problem to have – liking multiple classes – but I thought it’d be worthy of a post. I have been devouring countless posts on the official forums and […]
The excitement around World of Warcraft (WoW) Classic is certainly growing, though I am personally likely to resist it. However with the current focus on ‘classic servers’ – as opposed to progression servers – I thought I’d write something on their ultimate fate. Blizzard has reportedly stated that it has no plans to take the […]
Some time in the years between 1998 and 2019, the levelling experience in MMORPGs simply became a means to and end. This wasn’t always the case. In EverQuest (EQ), the journey was for many far more enjoyable (not to mention accessible) than the destination. Far more people in the original EQ timeline experienced grouping to […]
I died twice yesterday on Project1999. So I decided to write on death in MMORPGs. The first death was reasonable. I play an Enchanter, and when soloing I ‘charm’ a monster and make it a pet – I then use said pet to destroy other monsters. Unfortunately the charm is not fooprool. It wears off, […]
Project1999 was launched in 2009 and has now lived through ten years of operation. I wanted to pen some thoughts on the current state of play of the project, a decade down the track from its inception and a full twenty years after the game it is emulating – EverQuest – was launched.
I haven’t played a game in two whole days. This isn’t entirely uncommon for me. With work, social engagements, the occasional social sporting outing, sometimes I just come home, fall on the couch and I simply cannot ‘do’ gaming. There’s nothing wrong with this of course but it makes maintaining a gaming blog somewhat problemtic. […]
One thing is certain when it comes to my gaming time – it will involve significant amounts of time on Project1999. This has been true for much of the last six or seven years, and I don’t see it changing. There is something about EverQuest that I cannot escape, no matter how many years elapse […]
